On March 27, at 7:00 PM, NCHS’s annual Ram Jam event will be held at the Saxe Auditorium. Seniors will walk the runway in fun dresses and cool tuxedos, continuing a New Canaan tradition since 2019. The profits from Ram Jam are used to fund the Post-Prom afterparty for NCHS Seniors.
The Post-Prom after party originated in 1959, when the New Canaan Country Club hosted the “Dance-After-the-Dance,” which started at 1:00 in the morning and finished at 7:00. Now the afterparty is held at the Waveny House. “Ram Jam is a great fundraiser and event not only to raise money but to bring the seniors together for a last hoorah,” NCHS Senior Lyla DeGaetano said. “It’s honestly amazing.”

Since the venue shifted to the Waveny House, the decoration for Post-Prom has been sponsored by private donations and various fundraising events. “In the past years, we have raised around $14,000. We are hoping to keep it the same or maybe even raise a little more,” Ram Jam Co-Chair Katie Holmstead said.
Seniors rush to sign up every year, with spots limited to the first 50 girls and 40 boys who sign up. “As of right now, we have a wait list for the Fashion Show aspect, but we are looking for more people to participate in the skits,” Ms. Holmstead said. So, for those looking to perform in front of their fellow students, check the Ram Jam PFA website to sign up.
Over the past years, Ram Jam has integrated itself into the community, in town as well as in the hallways of the high school. For students, parents and members of the NCHS community, buying tickets is a great way to support seniors and raise money for their Post-Prom after party. To buy tickets, you can visit the Ram Jam PFA website. Tickets will also be sold at the door the night of the event.

“Students should attend or sign up for Ram Jam because there is nothing else like it,” Ms. Holmstead said. “Never will you get another opportunity to wear a fun dress or cool tuxedo and walk down the runway with a fellow senior.”
