This Women in the Workforce event has been organized by junior Tessa Piontkowski who hopes that this year’s event will be just as great as those in years past. “The Women in the Workforce club has done an amazing job of continuing the luncheon series, and this Wednesday will be the fifth installment,” Tessa said. “It is a great thing and hopefully a lot of people can come, I look forward to learning from Cary and her experiences.”

Tessa organizes this event each year in hope of inspiring girls and supporting their integration in the workplace. “I read Lean In in Ms. D’Acosta’s honors freshman English class, and it truly inspired me to apply for the Wilburn Fellowship under the goal of expressing gender differences,” Tessa said.

Cary has been featured on everything from The Today Show to CNN, and has written her own book, The Money Queen’s Guide. Cary’s website describes the contents of this Amazon #1 bestseller, “The Money Queen’s Guide is an uplifting and informative financially grounded book that helps women obtain and then protect financial success through the evolution and growth of their professional careers and personal lives.”

Cary has devoted a great portion of her time to travelling the world to spread the message to fellow women that they can support themselves. On her website, she illustrates the importance of being able to make a living, especially as a female; “As women, we all have unique a relationship with money. We strive for financial security to support our family, ensure we can retire comfortably, create independence separate from our partners, and along the way, buy some nice purses.”

While many feel high school is too early to begin financial planning, Cary thinks otherwise. Her website underlines how the younger you start being smart with your money, the better; “There are tried and true decisions you can make as early as your teens that can positively impact your financial security…Every dollar you don’t spend now can turn into thousands of dollars you don’t have to earn later.”

Registration was due March 18th either by email or at the College & Career Center. If you’re interested in learning more about Cary Carbonaro and how to ensure your future success, but cannot make it to the event, tune into @NCHSCourant on Twitter for live updates on Wednesday.
