Things every NCHS student can relate to

As a senior at NCHS, I feel that I have come to truly understand the NCHS experience. I’ve studied intensely, learned a lot, found friends (and enemies), and made some wonderful memories. But, if I were to synthesize these thoughts into the 15 most relatable experiences, it would probably look a little like this…

Setting five alarms because waking up this early is practically impossible.quote_luchs

2) Planning on going to bed at a reasonable hour and eating a balanced breakfast. But you inevitably fall asleep at 2.a.m., stumble out of bed feeling like you’ve been hit by a truck and grab a granola bar as you run out the door

3) Cringing when the teacher says, “The bell doesn’t dismiss you, I dismiss you.” or “You should have gone during passing time.” or “I don’t know, can you go to the bathroom?”

4) Wondering if the “quiet section” has ever actually been quiet.

5) Or at what point the student population spiked so sharply that the combined body heat of students in period three and five frees is melting the polar icecaps.

6) That moment when the teacher asks if anyone has any questions but you don’t even know what you don’t know.

7) Also, that moment when the teacher gives a 25 minute speech about wasting time.

8) Trying to take notes when the teacher’s standing right in front of the board.

9) Reading the first question of an exam and knowing you’re doomed.

10) Becoming falsely confident by an overly easy first question, and immediate collapsing as you read the second question.

11) Finishing the test early and not knowing if you really messed up or are really just that good.

12) Exclaiming “there’s a back?” or “I’m gonna wing it”

13) When you get home and throw your backpack down and just kinda stare at it and wonder how the mouth of Hell could look so innocent and friendly in its Jansport visage.

14) Being seriously concerned by the fact that you still don’t know how taxes work or how to balance a budget.

15) Is the mitochondria the powerhouse of the cell?
