The girls’ volleyball team has wrapped up their season with an unfortunate 4-14 record. Although they worked hard, they failed to make both States and FCIACS.

Earlier this season, the girls had a key win against Wilton. Coach Kate Campbell says, “We were able to outsmart them,” Head Coach Katie Campbell said. “They had some pretty strong girls but we were able to monopolize them so we won.”

They had another good game against Brien McManon. “We really wanted to win that game and we did,” Senior Captain Kaitlin Hughes said.

The team also had some tough defeats. “The Stamford fame was very intense,” Kaitlin said. “We’ve been trying to beat them for three years and then this season we decided we were going to beat them. We played five games but in the end we didn’t win.”

Coach Campbell had a more optimistic outlook on the season. “We played them point for point for every game and it could have gone either way,” she said. “The girls played creatively and strong.”

Girls volleyball was a season of learning how to work together, so that they are stronger in the future. Kaitlin says, “We kept trying to figure out what our strong points are and what our weaknesses were. It took us a long time to get it.”
