The Stiff Dylans, Timbaland, and Tim Brantley

Whitney Gulden

Since the first blog post of Replay was an album review for a wildly popular new album, (which in 48 hours has 6 out of 14 songs in the iTunes top 100) I’m going to throw some singles at you.

Ultraviolet by The Stiff Dylans isn’t going to technically be released in the USA until July 21st, but thanks to  youtube you can take a listen, so click it and keep reading…

The Stiff Dylans are a band from London, England whose rise to fame has come about with two performances in Nickelodeon’s Angus, Thongs, and Perfect Snogging movie that came out on New Year’s. Don’t hold it against them, these guys are for real- they barely want to work with record labels. Hence, why its taken so long for them to get an album over here. And being a girl, I have to say that they are smoking hot. With British accents. Who sing love songs through rock music. With mad skills. Be sure to check out their cover of “Ever Been in Love” too here.

Next up is Morning After Dark by Timbaland featuring Nelly Furtado and SoShy (a French artist like Timbaland) from his Shock Value II album released last month. However this song was released in late October as the album’s first single. Eclipsed by the huge success of Carry Out feauring Justin Timberlake (an awesome song too, check it out, this song has a dark beat that deserves to be in one of those glow-in-the-dark splatter paint clubs. I don’t know what it is abut Timbaland in this music video here.

but I can’t help but love him. Just look at the faces he’s making….

Tim Brantley newAnd last song of the day is I Can’t Make You Want Me from Tim Brantley’s rock Goldtop Heights album released last April. And now apparently it’s the background music on a preview for some tv show named “Chuck”? That’s what the link says anyways…

It’s not a hardcore rock song (its mostly on piano) or a ballad (it’s a breakup song, listen to the lyrics), but a sick music of the two. The best line of the song is sung acoustic, adding to the mellow drama of the instruments, “’I can’t make you want me’ she said, ‘but I can love you enough for the both of us’”.

If you have any music you’d like me to listen to and maybe post about if I like it, send a link to guldew@mac.com. I’m always open to new things but be warned, any opera will be laughed at.
