As high school students walk through the halls this year, they may notice something missing from the lobby of the school: The Summer Art Gallery. Usually, the Summer Art Gallery exhibits a variety of artwork made by students over the summer. As Kaitlyn Sandvik said in her Courant article on the Summer Art Gallery in 2014, “Many students appreciate the school’s opportunities to show off their work, including the Summer Art Gallery.”

In the past, the Summer Art Gallery has been a place where artists can appreciate the work of other artists and students can admire the work made by their classmates. The Summer Art Gallery promotes student artists to draw outside the lines and explore their artistic talent without the restraints of school-specific assignments.

Junior Emma Cody was going to do the Summer Art Gallery this year and said, “The Summer Art Gallery is a great opportunity to showcase your work in a recreational setting. I always have so much fun making art over the summer and look forward to seeing what other students have created.”

The Summer Art Gallery definitely adds something to the lobby. Emma said, “The lobby seems empty without the Summer Art Gallery! I definitely think students enjoyed the comfort of it being there.”
