After last year’s 17-5 season that ended with a loss to Darien in the state championship, the boys lacrosse team is back and ready for revenge. Led by senior captains Teddy Dumbauld, Logan Hart,  Michael Kraus and Justin Meichner, the boys return 26 players to this year’s team, and have high expectations for the season.

“This year we expect to be very good,” Teddy said. “Going undefeated is definitely something I think is possible for us. But we definitely want to win both the FCIAC and state championships.”

Although the team hopes to do well in the playoffs, they plan on taking each game one at a time. “Our goals for the season as a team are to come out to each and every game like its our last,” Justin said.

The boy’s schedule includes more games with national implications, including match ups with Lax Magazine’s preseason #9 St. Anthony’s (NY), Brunswick (CT), ranked as high as #7 by USA Today, and, of course, arch rival and consistently ranked as one of the top public schools in the country, Darien. “Each and every game this year is a big game, but the ones that are huge, are Brunswick, Darien, Greenwich, St. Anthony’s, and Fairfield Prep,” Justin said. “It should be fun seeing a ton of fans at these games.”

After three losses to Darien last season, including two in postseason tournaments and two in overtime, the boys are ready to exact revenge this year. “We are going to approach Darien with a very different attitude this year,” Justin said. “Yes, we lost three times to them last year, but we are going to be working unbelievably hard and we are going to bring our game to the field.”

“This year Darien won’t be a problem,” Teddy said. With high hopes, the boys look to get back to their winning ways on March 28th with a scrimmage against Niskayuna High School in New York.
