The New Canaan girls lacrosse team has had a challenging but competitive season, finishing 8–6 while facing one of the toughest schedules in the state. The Rams have tested themselves against nationally ranked programs including Manhasset, St. Anthony’s, Ward Melville, and Darien, gaining valuable experience that has strengthened overall team play.

Despite the difficulty of their schedule, New Canaan has produced dominant wins over Staples, Danbury, McMahon, Ridgefield, and Westhill. In several of these games, the Rams controlled tempo early and used aggressive offensive execution to build large leads, including a 19–4 win over Ridgefield and an 18–1 win over Danbury.

Offensively, the team has relied on a balanced scoring group including Ashton Pinkernell, Lauren Crisafulli, Lucy Casey, Phoebe Schue, and Riley Schlafman. Their depth has allowed New Canaan to generate offense from multiple positions and stay competitive against top opponents.

Defensively, Macyn Callahan has anchored the team in goal, delivering strong performances throughout the season, including 17 saves in a win over Staples. Her consistency has kept the Rams competitive in tight games against elite competition.

Although the team has faced setbacks against top-ranked opponents, New Canaan has consistently responded with strong bounce-back wins. With three Division I commits and a balanced roster of experienced and developing players, the Rams remain a dangerous postseason team.

Boys Lacrosse

The New Canaan boys lacrosse team has put together a strong and competitive spring season, building a 10–2 record while consistently proving itself as one of the top teams in the FCIAC. Across the schedule, the Rams have shown a balance of offensive firepower, defensive composure, and the ability to perform in high-pressure moments against some of the strongest programs in the state.

Key wins include Staples, Wilton, Darien, Ridgefield, and Fairfield Prep, with several games decided in tight fourth-quarter situations. One of the defining performances came in the 10–8 win over Fairfield Prep, where New Canaan built an early lead behind goals from Brady Mazabras, Charlie Sullivan, and Matt Reed, before holding off a late push. Reed finished with a hat trick, continuing his role as a consistent scoring threat.

Grey Wildman has also had a breakout season, including a three-goal performance against Fairfield Prep, where he scored twice in under a minute late in the game to secure the win. The offense has been fueled by depth, with contributions coming from multiple midfielders and attackers.

Defensively, Jackson Crowell has provided stability in goal while also adding a unique transition presence. The defense has helped limit runs and force turnovers in key moments.

As the Rams move into their final games, they remain firmly in FCIAC title contention. With momentum, depth, and confidence building, New Canaan enters the postseason as a serious championship threat.

Girls Tennis

The New Canaan girls varsity tennis team completed an impressive regular season with a 12–3 record, establishing themselves as one of the strongest programs in the FCIAC. Led by captains Camryn Lee, Sophie Adamczyk, and Leah Zheng, the Rams showed consistency across both singles and doubles play throughout the spring.

A major strength of the season was dominance in conference matchups, including multiple 7–0 sweeps over Norwalk, Stamford, Fairfield Warde, Brien McMahon, and Westhill. These results highlighted the team’s depth and ability to control matches across the lineup. The Rams also earned a major 5–2 win over Darien, one of their most important victories of the season.

Even in losses to Staples, Ludlowe, and Greenwich, New Canaan remained competitive and continued to improve, often pushing matches to tight sets. Individual performances also stood out, including Chloe Hoegstedt earning “Ram of the Week” after going undefeated in three matches and Camryn Lee receiving the FCIAC Scholar-Athlete Award.

The team’s success has been driven by chemistry, consistency, and depth, allowing different players to step up depending on matchups. Senior leadership helped stabilize the lineup while younger players developed into larger roles.

As postseason play begins, the Rams carry momentum, confidence, and experience from a strong regular season and remain a serious contender in both the FCIAC and state tournaments.

Boys Tennis

The New Canaan boys tennis team has delivered a dominant and undefeated regular season, finishing 11–0 and securing the top spot in the FCIAC East Division. Throughout the spring, the Rams have shown consistency, depth, and composure across both singles and doubles play, establishing themselves as one of the strongest programs in the state.

A defining moment came in a key rivalry win over Darien, where New Canaan earned a 5–2 victory despite lineup adjustments due to injuries. The match highlighted the team’s depth, as multiple players stepped into larger roles and performed under pressure.

Throughout the season, players such as Jackson Mountford, Quinn Scanlan, Julian Doshi, and Grayden Seighart have consistently contributed in both singles and doubles matches. Roman D’Andrea also made an immediate impact with a dominant 6–0, 6–0 singles debut against Darien.

Doubles play has been a major strength, with teams like Jackson Mountford and Jake Lee securing important wins in close matches. Even with injuries affecting the lineup, players like Quinn Scanlan and James Amundsen stepped into higher positions and helped maintain the undefeated record.

New Canaan’s success has come from depth, adaptability, and strong chemistry, allowing the team to adjust without losing consistency. The Rams also earned tight wins such as a 4–3 victory over Greenwich earlier in the season.

As the postseason approaches, New Canaan enters undefeated and ranked among the top teams in the FCIAC.

Baseball

The Rams baseball team got off to a very strong start with a five-game winning streak, including a 10-0 mercy rule victory over Brien McMahon at home on Coppo Field. They hit a brief rough patch midway through the season, losing four straight games over the course of a week.

On April 27, the Rams turned it around with a close 2-0 victory over Greenwich on the road. Since then, they’ve been on an unstoppable hot streak. Against Wilton on April 29, sophomore pitcher Quinn Jens went for six innings and gave up only four hits in a 6-2 victory over the Warriors. Two days later, senior Zak Joslin threw a complete game shutout against Stamford, leading the charge in a 5-0 win.

The Rams picked up a second mercy rule victory 13-2 against Brien McMahon on May 4, and a third on May 8 against Westhill, both 13-2. In the latter game, Joslin threw his 100th career strikeout. On May 11, they beat Bridgeport Central at home in a 12-0 blowout, getting to a 12-4 season record. Up next, they play Ridgefield on the road on May 18, and Danbury at home on May 20.

Softball

The New Canaan softball team has had an outstanding season, compiling a strong 13–4 record and establishing itself as one of the top programs in the FCIAC. The Rams have consistently combined dominant pitching, timely hitting, and clutch performances to secure key wins throughout the spring.

A major strength has been pitcher Lauren Fico’s dominance in the circle. She has recorded multiple double-digit strikeout games, including 13-strikeout performances against Staples and Norwalk, while also contributing offensively with key hits and RBIs.

Offensively, New Canaan has been led by Sofia Mallozzi, Marissa DelCarmine, Emily Marciano, Charlotte Fico, and Lisa Mallozzi, all of whom have delivered in key moments including extra-inning and comeback wins.

The Rams have shown strong resilience throughout the season, frequently overcoming early deficits, including a major comeback against Ludlowe after trailing by four runs.

Girls Golf

The New Canaan girls golf team has had a strong and steadily improving season, highlighted by key wins, competitive performances, and consistent growth across the roster. The Rams have shown improvement throughout the spring while remaining competitive in every match.

A major highlight was a close 176–172 win over Wilton, where New Canaan delivered strong late-round scoring to secure the victory. The team also earned important wins over Staples and Ridgefield, showing the ability to compete with strong FCIAC programs.

Leading the team have been Lucy Laviage and Chloe Cui, who have consistently posted scores in the high 30s and low 40s. Their steady performance has anchored the lineup throughout the season. Chloe Cui has delivered several strong rounds, including scores of 42, 33, and 37, showing consistency and growth.

Supporting players Sophie D’Elisa and Eloise Tuff have also contributed steady scoring in the low 40s, helping round out the team’s depth. Much of the team’s improvement has come from focused short-game practice, which has translated into stronger match results.

Although the Rams have faced close losses, including a tight match against Darien, they have consistently remained competitive and improved throughout the season. Their ability to stay close in matches and respond with strong performances shows continued development.

As the season progresses, New Canaan continues to build confidence and consistency, positioning itself as a competitive and improving program within the league.

Boys Volleyball

The New Canaan boys volleyball team has opened its 2026 season in dominant fashion, building an undefeated 10–0 record and establishing itself as the top team in Fairfield County. The Rams have controlled matches from start to finish, dropping only a single set all season through consistent serving, strong defense, and efficient offensive execution.

New Canaan has earned straight-set wins over Staples, Norwalk, Fairfield Ludlowe, Fairfield Warde, Greenwich, Wilton, and multiple conference opponents. Even in tighter matches like Stamford, the Rams stayed composed and closed out victories in four sets or fewer, showing depth and resilience.

A major factor in the team’s success has been its senior leadership. Nolan McLaughlin has led the offense with 146 kills, providing steady scoring in key moments. Dylan Ho has run the offense efficiently with 304 assists and 45 aces, distributing the ball effectively and keeping hitters involved.

Defensively, the Rams have been equally strong, with disciplined passing and consistent back-row play limiting opponent runs. Their serving pressure has been a major advantage, often putting opponents out of system early and allowing New Canaan to control tempo.

As the Rams move into their final regular season matches against McMahon, Westhill, and Darien, they remain undefeated and one of the top-ranked teams in the state. With strong chemistry and consistent execution, New Canaan is positioned as a serious postseason contender.

Boys Track

Boys Track and Field has found their stride, they stand at 4-0 with 2 duel meets left, and if they beat Warde and Darien, will remain undefeated. This season has been incredibly impactful for the sprints, where captain Caden Leslie has led the boys to a breakout season, with key performances coming from senior Andrew Esposito running 11.27 in the 100m, senior Tristan Bardales running 11.35 and 22.23 in the 100m and 200m respectively, junior Charlie Koch running 11.45 for the 100m, and seniors Luke Gencarelli and Caden Leslie running 11.49 and 11.50 for the 100m, respectively.

Middle distance has been strong as well, with sophomore Anthony Westhead leading the team in the open 400m, with a time of 52.55, followed by sophomore Leo Baroni, running 53.71. This season, New Canaan has stood out in the 800m, with senior Captains Ryan Monohan and Quinn Kilkenny holding the #1 (1:55.51) and #2 (1:56.40) times in the FCIAC respectively. The boys also hold 5 of the top 11 times in the FCIAC for the 800m.

Ryan Monohan ran 4:14.21 in the mile at the Loucks Games Invitational, before later finding out he had been disqualified. Had he not, he would’ve held CIAC #1 in the event. Quinn Kilkenny ran 4:22.06 in the same race. Other key performances in the 1600m come from juniors Charles Cavanagh and Boyd Cousley, who have run 4:30.6 and 4:40.52 respectively. In the 3200m, Cavanagh ran 9:37.66.

Perhaps the biggest improvement the boys have seen in the field events. In the long jump, Esposito, Bardales, and Koch all jump over 21 feet, placing them #4, #5, and #7 in the FCIAC standings respectively. Sophomore Peter Tsapralis jumps 10’6” in the pole vault. Koch also jumps 42’5 in the triple jump, FCIAC #5. Junior Henry Reagan has also thrown 132 ‘8 ” in Discus, which places him 5th in FCIAC standings.

Lastly, Relays have been strong, the 4×100 has run 44.47, the 4×400 has run 3:29.23, which places them 3rd in the FCIAC, and the crown jewel of New Canaan relays, the 4×800, has run 7:59.75, placing them #1 in the FCIAC, and securing them a qualification for New Balance Nationals.

Girls Track

The girls outdoor track and field team has put together a dominant and undefeated regular season, finishing 4-0 in duel meet competition and establishing themselves as one of the top teams in the FCIAC. From opening the season with a convincing 99–50 win over Trumbull to most recently finishing with a 115–35 victory over St. Joseph, the Rams consistently controlled meets through strong performances across sprints, distance races, and field events.

While many of their wins came by comfortable margins, the team was tested in a tight 79–71 battle against Ridgefield on April 28th, which ultimately became a defining moment of the season. In that meet, the Rams responded under pressure, relying on clutch finishes in the final events to secure the win and remain undefeated. That meet highlighted the team’s resilience and balance, as multiple athletes stepped up in key moments to keep momentum on New Canaan’s side.

Throughout the season, freshmen Georgina Harrington and Mara Simatic were consistent forces in the sprints, frequently finishing at or near the top in the 200m and contributing heavily to relay success. Sophomore Lauren Casey also emerged as a key scorer in the 400m, while freshman Tate Salerno delivered strong performances in the 100m.

In field events, juniors Evie Dolger (high jump) and Milana Hutchins (long jump) consistently earned crucial points, helping separate the Rams from their opponents in close meets. Junior Kate Frangione delivered one of the season’s most notable moments, breaking the outdoor school record in the pole vault with a 10-foot-6-inch jump. Distance runners, including sophomore Gabrielle Savelli, who posted a standout 5:17 in the 1600m, also provided critical depth.

Looking ahead to postseason competition, the Rams enter championship meets with strong momentum and clear confidence across all event groups. Their depth in relays, sprint versatility, and field event scoring ability position them as serious contenders in the FCIAC and beyond. If their regular season consistency continues, New Canaan will be a team to watch closely as the stakes rise.
