Tomorrow, the Varsity Girl’s Hockey Team will be hosting a “Family Free Skate,” from 6:30-8, at Terry Connors Ice Rink in Stamford.
The team is selling tickets for $10 throughout the week, however, tickets will also be sold at the door for $10.
The Free Skate is the hockey team’s main fundraiser for the year. Junior tri-captain Jana Persky explained the purpose of the fundraiser. “Since hockey is an expensive sport, with ice time costing up to $450 an hour, players are responsible for more than $20,000…” Jana said.

Yesterday, the Rams hockey team defeated long time FCIAC arch-rival Darien with a score of 4-0 in front of a full crowd at Darien Ice Rink. The Rams took a 1-0 lead in the first period on a goal from senior and captain forward Sam Stanton and never looked back, scoring twice in the 2nd period and again in the 3rd to seal the victory. On December 26th, the boys hockey team defeated the Blue Wave in one of the most exciting New Canaan vs. Darien hockey games in history, score 2-1.
The Blue Wave, looking for revenge from their earlier loss to the Rams, came out strong and put the pressure on the Rams, but the Rams defense and freshman goalie Tim Nowacki, who accounted for 19 saves and another shutout, stood strong and kept the Wave of the scoreboard…

Superbowl Sunday is finally here, ladies and gentlemen! That’s right: your full assortment of artery-clogging foods, endless soda and beer, friendly betting, and, of course, terrific football between two offensive powerhouses in the New Orleans Saints and the Indianapolis Colts.
Despite being down eleven points midway through the second quarter, the Colts defeated the “Cinderella” New York Jets 30-17 on the back of second year receiver Pierre Garcon who finished the game with 151 yards and a touchdown. The Saints advanced on a Lawrence Tynes-esque overtime game winning field goal by second year pro Garrett Hartley, capitalizing on a crucial and unnecessary interception by Brett Favre in the closing seconds of regulation. This will be the Saints first Superbowl appearance in the team’s 43-year existence…
