Girls swimming and diving come away strong from FCIACs and States

The girls swimming and diving team ended their fall season strong with successes at FCIACs and States.

On October 28, the Lady Rams traveled to the Greenwich High School pool for the FCIAC Championships, placing 4th out of 13 schools with a score of 259.5. The Rams were led by the first place victory in the 400 meter free relay by senior co-captain Alex Aliapoulios, senior co-captain Jenna Egan, sophomore Katie Colwell, and sophomore Meghan Egan and the 2nd place triumph in diving by junior co-captain Kylie Towbin.

The girls secured their 4th overall score with their 2nd place for the 200 meter freestyle relay, with a time of 1:42.20 and 1st in the 400 freestyle relay with a time of 3:36.24. The Lady Rams saw their performance as a great beginning to their championship season.

At Class L CIAC championships, the Rams placed 2nd with 611 points, falling behind to Darien who scored 866 points.

The Egan sisters found individual success, with Jenna taking the top spot in the 200 yard freestyle race with a time of 1:52.95, and Meghan also placing first in the 200 yard IM at 2:05.29.

Kylie Towbin continued with her streak of strong performances, placing first in the diving competition with 455.80 points.

The Rams took 1st place in the 200 free relay with a time of 1.36.98. The relay featured Alex Aliapoulios, Jenna Egan, Meghan Egan, and Libby O’Hare.

In addition to the Class L championships, the Lady Rams were also runner up in the CIAC Open Championships, Saturday November 16, at the Yale University pool, falling to Darien, with 411.75 points compared to Darien’s 497 points.
