On Saturday March 15th, the boys hockey team defeated the North Haven Indians with a score of 4-0 at Wonderland of Ice in Bridgeport. Next up for the Rams is Fairfield Prep in the semifinals, a match-up everyone has been waiting for all season.

April showers have yet to begin, but the March nor’easter brought high winds and plenty of rain this past weekend. New Canaan was declared ‘in a State of Emergency’ on Sunday, and the havoc is still on our streets.
The tree damage has been devastating in most areas. Colin Brown, an Environmental Educator at the New Canaan Nature Center, has been living on site for a year and a half at the Center and has never seen this kind of devastation there. “Around 15 to 20 trees probably fell; six or seven trees blocked the trails,” Mr. Brown said. “The rain wasn’t that bad, it was a normal March or April rain, but the wind was very strong…”

The Drama Department has put together its “most innovative PR scheme yet” to build excitement for its upcoming production of The Mystery of Edwin Drood. For the first time, the department has worked with NCTV to produce nine commercials in which eight faculty members get to try out their acting skills as the leading players in the show “murder” them one by one. Life size pictures of the principle characters have also been speckled throughout the school to encourage students to pick their favorite suspect in the onstage “whodunit” mystery.Catherine Chiocchi

Wednesday February 24th, the Anime Club held a Super Smash Bros. tournament in the lounge to raise money for Haiti. Students who attended the event played against each other in the video game on a large-screen projection. According to the club’s president, senior Katrina Mondonedo, “It was really successful. We had a good turnout and raised about $300,” she said. “About 25 people came, which was better than we expected, and we had a great time…
Registration for AP tests in the College and Career Center ends 3/1. The test is for students who are currently enrolled in AP courses and wish to get AP credit.
Each test costs $95.00, and checks should be made out to NCHS Guidance. If financial aid is needed for the tests, students should see Ms. Carroll in the College and Career Center…
