Austin*, a junior, knew that it wasn’t working out. He had to break up with Jen*, yet he was scared and didn’t really want to hurt her. But something had to be done — he had to get out of the relationship.

Heart pounding, his fingers flew across the keyboard. A long paragraph formed on the computer screen in front of him, full of feelings of regret, relief, and fear. One click and the paragraph, the one that would break the heart of the person on the other line, would be sent. One click, and it was done.

This story is not uncommon. Along with the hookups of high school come the almost inevitable breakups, which can be done in person, online, by text, or phone call…

In this day and age, there is no denying that social networking sites play an increasingly important role in students’ lives, whether they’re used to communicate about school and sports, publicize events, or catch up with friends. Because websites like Facebook and Twitter allow students to share information with such facility, people often have a tendency to post every uncut detail of their lives on the Internet.

While some may think nothing of posting such information, they might do well to remember that once something is on the Internet, it’s there for anyone to see. Schools, police and even government agencies have the ability to simply log into these websites to access a plethora of information about students’ activities…

Seniors walk the runway at the Starry Nite of Style

On Saturday, seniors hit the runway at the eighth annual Starry Nite of Style, the post-prom fundraiser. This year, the hour-long show featured over 90 models wearing an array of prom and post-prom fashions.

Starry Nite of Style has never had so many participants. “We have a record number of kids this year. We didn’t say no to anybody, they were great!” Co-Chair Bridget Robustelli said.

The seniors were only required to attend one meeting, fitting, and dress rehearsal in preparation for the show. Everything came together in the end, with the last day of fittings just four days before the show date…
