After a 5-15 season, the Rams look to improve their performance this season. “Our team looks to enrich our technique,” senior captain Logan Hart said. “Last year we were led by experienced upperclassmen with a fairly inexperienced core. This year we look to improve finer details that make the difference between a win and a loss.”

The wrestling team loses several leadership whose roles they will look to fill. “All three senior wrestlers were our captains; between Joao Rocha, Kenny Phillipson and Brandon Pak, we lost tremendous leadership and knowledge to graduation,” Logan said. “The current senior and junior classes are filled with experienced wrestlers that will be looking to follow in the footstep of the leadership that has come through the program in previous years.”

The wrestling team is looking for several athletes to step up and make an impact. “Malaki is returning off of a big year and looking to place well in States and FCIACs again,” Logan said. “Players like Aidan Donovan, Will Arliss and the Cognetta twins are looking to consistently win and lead our team to a winning record.”

Despite the team’s lack of success last year, the team believes they can improve significantly this season. “Besides the powerhouses of Danbury, Trumbull and Warde, our team has the capability to compete with and beat every team in the FCIAC,” Logan said. “If we go into meets with passion, I’m confident we can be in the top 5 or 6 in the FCIAC.”

The Rams are very excited about their opportunity to succeed on both an individual and team basis. “In a sport like wrestling, it’s individual triumph that leads to team success,” Logan said. “By competing together during practice and getting better, we improve the likelihood of both personal and team prosperity.”
