With six key players graduated, Head Coach of Boys Basketball, Danny Melzer, is getting his fresh lineup of players prepared for the 2022 season.

In only a mere three years, New Canaan Basketball has made a jump from Division 4, to Division 1. In this short time frame, Melzer has been crafting his lineup to be ready for FCIAC finals and State Playoffs. The boys ended last season with an outstanding 11-4 record, including an unfortunate loss in the FCIAC playoffs to Ridgefield, that will hopefully be made up for at the end of this season.

Captains Ned Brady, Mike Sansevarino, and Logan Sykes will be leading their team to victory, as returning varsity players, and Sansevarino being a part of the starting lineup.

With only one underclassman player coming back with minimal varsity experience, Melzer says, “Since we are such a young and inexperienced team, we’re hoping to improve every day and utilize our depth to wear teams down.” Coach Melzer said. The team is working hard in practice everyday to uphold their D1 status and hopefully bring home a championship trophy.

Although this year’s lineup is looking good, Melzer also says, “We will probably play a lot of different guys off the bench,” so look out for a variety of players on and off the court.
