Will Gal Gadot make a good Wonder Woman?

In August 2013, the internet was on the brink of disaster when Warner Bros announced Ben Affleck was to play Batman in the soon-to-be battle of Batman vs. Superman. Zach Snyder, the director of the upcoming film, has shocked the internet and DC fans once again, announcing that Gal Gadot will play Wonder Woman in the same project. Everyone’s first question was: who is Gal Gadot? For the most part, she is an unknown actress. Her biggest roles are being featured in 3 out of the 6 Fast and Furious flicks, which is not exactly the most film experience in the industry. But besides the lack of experience and popularity in the film world, what is really grinding people’s gears is the lack of body weight on the woman.

Everyone is arguing that Wonder Woman, an icon for women young and old, should be promoting confidence and power, rather than a tiny waist and pretty face. I wholeheartedly agree, but raise the point that Hollywood trainers do exist, and are about a dime-a-dozen, so Gadot does have time to bulk up. Not only that, but Gadot has spent two years in the Israeli army as a tough sports trainer, so the training/badassness that she can incorporate into the film will make it that more realistic.

Wonder Woman is my all time favorite superhero but I’m not going to judge the studio’s choices until I actually see the movie, however, if Warner Bros and DC do make Wonder Woman into the “broad in tights” type, like some other superhero movies (cough cough Black Widow) I’ll be the first one to angrily tweet.
