In the wake of the shooting in Parkland Florida, students around the nation have gotten involved with the school safety movement that has sparked in the recent weeks. NCHS senior Sammi Smith has created Students for Students – a club based around stimulating discussion around gun control and school safety. To kickstart her initiative, she invited club members to attend the Up in Arms gallery at the Samuel Owen Gallery in Stamford.

Focused on encouraging a consensus amongst people, the gallery featured guns in art by 12 up-and-coming artists. The event was a time to connect with politicians including Congressman Jim Himes and CT State Representative Caroline Simmons from across the state and ignite conversation around possible policy change on gun control.
