This past Friday, the Italian Center of Stamford hosted hundreds of NCHS students for the 2013 Junior Prom. As juniors arrived to one of the biggest social events on our school’s calendar, their clothes were photographed and on display for all to notice. After careful consideration, here are the ten looks that I found most outstanding from this year’s JProm.
Badgley Mischka via renttherunway.com
New Canaan’s It Girl took Friday night by storm in a Badgley Mischka gown from Rent the Runway. Taylor Swift once said “Loving him was Red”, but stalking Kit Mallozzi’s red dressed pictures seems to be more appropriate. This color looked great against her tan skin and was matched well with gold serenity earrings. Unforgettable.
Jack Jeffrey
As noted in The Preppy Handbook by Lisa Birnbach, you can never go wrong with Vineyard Vines, clearly proven by Jack Jeffrey. Double J brought out the big guns for his junior prom in a matching sailboat bow tie and cummerbund set by none other than VV. Keep Calm and Prep On, Jack Jeffrey. This timeless look will look great in Martha’s Vineyard.
A Step Ahead
To all you Gossip Girl addicts, this look was the closest thing you’ll get to being Serena van der Woodsen. Haley looked pretty in pink in this A Step Ahead dress and photographed perfectly in every photograph, especially with her bouncing blonde curls. This look was the talk of the weekend and had everybody buzzing. Keep up the great work, Haley.
Collin kept his “dressed to impress” mentality as he strolled into The Italian Center wearing a black and white tux matched with a Polo bow tie. This look had the timelessness of the classic black and white suit with a touch of personality in his neck piece of choice. Nicely done.
La Femme
This southern belle made her mark in a navy La Femme dress with a strappy back and heart shaped neck line. Somewhere out there at this very moment, Carrie Underwood is stalking Swil’s muploads in awe just like the rest of the junior class did on Saturday morning. Sara looked flawless with her wavy blond tresses and was sure to be remembered. 10/10.
Deery…Austen Deery, sported the classic black and white tux and showed his classmates that class never dies. This suit looked formal and bold on Austen and is a tux that is worth considering for all who want to make a statement correctly.
La Femme
I really loved Emily Wood’s dress. This La Femme gown included varying shades of green and looked perfect against her flame colored curls. The heart shaped top worked well with the woven top section, and looked amazing in photos. Great choice.
Jack Robey took JProm with confidence this year and showed how to wear a vest correctly. A prom vest doesn’t need to have multiple patterns or the shine of aluminum foil, but can be simple and classy instead. This simplicity of this white vest looked great against a black jacket. Well done Jack Robey, class before anything else.

They say that gingers are a dying race, so it’s great that Abbie always gives us clothing to remember them by. This Oasis Lace Bodice prom dress started with a bold lace material and ended with a flowing silk. The juxtaposition between the top of the dress and the bottom was a contrast that will be remembered, and the persian blue color looked amazing with her strawberry locks. This look was perfect, as per usual.
Will matched his date’s blue dress in his sapphire blue bow tie and cummerbund. This look worked well because he managed to add a splash of color to his tux without taking away from the classiness of the suit. It was nice to see the matching be subtle and not overwhelming with colorful flashiness.
Honorable Mention: Aly Schmidt

Shout out to my girl Aly Schmidt for absolutely killing it at Junior Prom this year as one of my previously awarded “Best Dressed Seniors”. Aly wore a black gown by Rachel Pally and ruled this year’s JProm like it was her own. Finishing her look with a turquoise and silver bubble necklace, Schmidtaayy looked fabulous and instantly stole the show. Best look of the night.
