This week in Student Coalition, the main portion of the meeting was spent on the upcoming lip-dub music video project. Many of you may have seen the endless Youtube videos of schools that did similar productions, such as the popular I Got a Feelin’ video. The idea of the music video is to gather as many student groups possible and roam around the school as everyone lip-syncs to the songs voted on: “Dynamite” by Taio Cruz and “Firework” by Katy Perry. Traditionally the video is filmed in one shot, but there was such a big turnout of support, we needed to spread the individual shots across several days. If your team or club has not yet signed up for a date to film, be sure to email me at kellianne.hickey@ncps-k12.org saying when you guys are all free! The editing and filming will be done by the same group that did the “SOH CAH TOA” video, so you can expect a quality film showcasing the talent and spirit of NCHS.
Upcoming fundraisers include a bake sale on St. Patrick’s Day, Thursday, March 17th, to benefit the freshman grade funds, so bring some extra cash for yummy shamrock cookies! Also, StuCo will be selling daffodils to benefit the American Cancer Society. The money goes to an amazing cause and who doesn’t want a few extra flowers around the house in the spirit of spring?
The class reports were nothing unusual, just the juniors and seniors preparing for prom! Junior Prom will be on Friday, April 8th and Senior Prom on Friday, May 20th. Junior Prom tickets will be sold the week of March 28th, just around the corner!
Also, class elections will be coming up in May. There will be more information on this to come, but the spots open are class presidents, political board presidents, and social board presidents for each class as well as the executive board spots for seniors: president, vice president, secretary, and treasurer. As always, remember you don’t have to be elected to join StuCo! Every student is more than welcome to come as a delegate. If you feel like being involved and making a change in the school community, come to one of our Wednesday meetings right after school in Mr. Levai’s room. That’s all for this week!
