First of all… HAPPY MIDNIGHTS RELEASE EVERYBODY. We hope you’ve been enjoying Taylor’s new, energy-charged album just as much as we have (although that might not be possible).

Now, down to business. Amidst lots of speculation from the Swiftie community, it appears as though Speak Now (Taylor’s Version) will be the next re-recorded album to be released by Taylor Swift. In honor of the potential upcoming release, we’ve ranked each song from the album. Although the world was blessed with it 13 years ago, Speak Now still carries a strong relevance and popularity in today’s music culture. As always, this album is a masterpiece, so ranking each song was difficult.

1. Better Than Revenge

Earning our very top spot in the ranking, Better Than Revenge is an upbeat song with a powerful sound, allegedly detailing Taylor’s breakup with singer Joe Jonas. While the song has well over 100 million Spotify streams, it is not the most played track on the album. For us, Better Than Revenge stands out because it’s the only song on Speak Now that takes an assertive and angry tone, contrasting with Taylor’s typical soft and nostalgic tunes.

2. Back to December

Taylor captures the essence of December melancholia through this hit, which is the second most listened to song on the album. Allegedly written about Twilight star, Taylor Lautner, Back to December has become a classic breakup song throughout the last decade. As usual, Swift’s music video brings the song’s message home, perfectly summing up Back to December‘s sad and regretful feel.

3. Sparks Fly

This invigorating track caused a stir back in 2010 when it was released because it was Taylor’s first song with stronger themes of pop incorporated into her usual country tune. Sparks Fly was written when Taylor was only 16, before the release of her debut album, and then made its way into an official album years later. The song is a classic love story for hopeful romantics, and has a prominent guitar feature.
