Since the start of 2011, winter weather has caused three delayed openings, two early dismissals and six snow days. Due to the record amount of snow, students had only eight full days of school last month. NCHS began February with dual snow days on Feb. 1 and Feb. 2. Currently the last day of school is scheduled to be Wednesday, Jun. 22.

Valentine’s Day traditionally sets the scene for people to get close to one another. Romantic love is celebrated by the giving of flowers, chocolates and greeting cards that have a quirky but cute sayings. Monday, February 14 is the perfect opportunity for NCHS students to wear their hearts on their sleeves, to muster up all their courage and give their hearts to that special someone.

Despite the cancellation of the Jan. 8 statewide robotics competition and the postponement of the Feb. 5 competition in Manchester, CT, due to inclement weather, the VEX robotics team continues to prepare for their next competition on Feb. 24 in Manchester.

A leak sprung Friday, Feb. 11, around 1:00 p.m., starting on the third floor and creating puddles of waste water in two chemistry rooms, a third floor prep room, the English Office, the Writing Center, and the spiral staircase area on both the first and second floors. According to Assistant Principal Larry Sullivan, the water is not sewer water, and not hazardous.

Within only a few minutes, the Rams’s seven point leader had evaporated into an 8 point deficit, and with less then 5 minutes left in the game and the Rams on the brink of their 8th straight loss in a row, their prospects of winning did not look good. Enter Willie Burger, the unlikely hero; a freshman was only playing such crucial end game minutes because of an injury to Nick Depuy.
