“Posture Perfect?”

We are always told to “sit up straight”, “throw our shoulders back,” and “don’t slouch,” but is it really necessary to have the seasoned posture of a drill sergeant?

“Some of the health benefits [of good posture] are proper organ function, because if you’re stooped over, all of the organs cannot function,” local chiropractor Dr. Maryanne Ducey explained. “With bad posture you can have headaches, dizziness, pain, and difficulties with activities of daily living.” [These activities can be as simple as tying shoes and washing your hair].

Student coalition gears up for ’09-’10

The Student Coalition held a meeting on Sept. 30, marking the first time this year the coalition met with all its new freshman delegates. The freshman class elected Katie Kuberra as Class President, Ashley Feldman as Social President, and Harrison Besser as Political president.

Katie Kuberra said, “the meeting primarily consisted of planning for the upcoming homecoming week. We’ve been planning the bonfire, the three spirit days, and the dance”. This year the coalition is more concentrated on “enhancing the traditions the students have enjoyed in past years” said Kuberra. The coalition also counts Homecoming Queen and King votes on top of planning for the entire week of festivities.
