Needtobreathe

Whitney Gulden

We’re going from a hard metal band to a Christian rock band. Ever heard of Needtobreathe? While the song that most recently made them catch my eye was Something Beautiful, they are most well known for a couple of their older songs. Originally from Needtobreathe’s second album The Heat (released in 2007), the song More Time was featured in the 2007 movie P.S. I Love You. From their first album Daylight (released in 2007) came Shine On which was used on MTV’s “Newport Harbor”, Oprah’s Big Give, in two movies (Employee of The Month and To Save a Life), and even the WWE Tribute to the Troops. So you might have heard Needtobreathe without even realizing it too.

Although the band formed before the milenium in ’99 they came into the music scene in 2002 with independently produced EP’s until they were signed to Altantic Records and Sparrow Records to produce their debut album (Daylight) in the UK. Not bad at all for four guys from South Carolina. Frontman Bear Rinehart started the band with his brother Bo Rinehart on lead guitar and Joe Stillwell on drums before joining with bassist Seth Bolt.

Currently the band is finishing up the “Won’t Turn Back” tour for their third album The Outsiders (which has my favorite song Something Beautiful mentioned before) this week in Bakersville, California and Reno, Nevada.
