As the school year is wrapping up it seems that the juniors have already taken on their roles as seniors. From sitting on the senior patio to being anchors on Friday announcements, they have really been making their mark.

As for Journalism, the new Editors in Chief were named earlier last week. Taking over from Allie Neugeborn and Jake Neuberger will be Andie Carroll, Caroline Cioffi, Olivia Flaherty-Lovy and Meera Srinivasan.

Being an Editor in Chief is the highest rank in NCHS Journalism. It is the main job in the class and is something students work vigoursly for. Their job includes multiple responsibilities, some of which include being the last to leave when finalizing the newspaper a few days before shipment and editing everyones story in a short amount of time.

Although junior Meera will not be attending NCHS next year, she is still contributing to the preperation for the fall. She was given the honor because of how hard she has worked over the past two years.

Olivia and Caroline are journalism one students while Meera and Andie are in journalism two. “I was really excited but also extremely surprised because I wasn’t expecting it at all,” said Olivia.

Journalism produces a print paper almost every other month and is constantly publishing stories online. “I’ve worked here for 2 years now on the paper, and I was always aspiring to become an EIC,” said Andie.

With the amount of students in the class decreasing over the past few years, the new leaders will have to adjust how the class is run. “We put together a whole list of things, not things we can fundamentally change but just make edits to so we can have a more efficient class. Especially because next year we are going to have a much smaller class,” said Andie.

With full support from teachers Mike McAteer, Roman Cebulski and the entire class, the EIC’s have a big year ahead. “It’s exciting to see what next year is going to bring and see what we can do it terms of organization and bringing new and exciting things to the Courant,” said Caroline.
