They are no longer your ordinary basketball-court-everybody-has-them-sweat-pants-only pair of Nike kicks. They are now your where-did-you-get-those-wear-it-with-anything-shorts-appropriate-vibrantly-colored pair of Nike high-top kicks.

Since 1964, Nike has manufactured comfortable and convenient footwear for those who are sports oriented. But in recent years, Nike’s footwear has no longer been considered “sports only”. These shoes are evolving to be something more than just your ordinary running shoes—they are now fashion statements.

Metallic, cows, glitter, hearts, sequins, lace—these patterns and materials are anything but ordinary and won’t be found on any old pair of sneakers. With the color variety available, these shoes can be paired with just about anything. Comfortable, cute, and unique—what more could you ask for?

Oh, what to wear with them? The swiftly spreading trend of bright, fun, and modern high-top kicks has been seen paired with dresses, skirts, formal wear, and trendy tops. At first sight, these shoes may not seem worth wearing instead of a pair of heels or flats, but with the rush of getting to class, running late on a date, or any other obstacle, your feet will thank-you.

Nikki Reed Sporting Kicks

This funky shoe trend has been spotted on several celebrities—Kirsten Stewart, Ashley Tisdale, Nikki Reed, Megan Fox, and many more. And yes, the girl who supposedly has the best of both worlds and we just love, Miley Cyrus, has been spotted wearing lime-green metallic high-tops paired with a dress. On the other hand, Nikki Reed chooses to keep a low profile and pairs her rainbow high-tops with a classic pair of skinny jeans and a ¾ fitted black pea coat.

Guys too are sporting cool kicks in bright colors ranging from the fieriest reds to the brightest blues.  These shoes have been spotted on Jay-Z, Kanye West, Gabe Saporta, and Pete Wentz. Whether paired with dark washed denim jeans or casual slacks, these Nikes will never fail being the compliment of any outfit.

Not a fan of the Nike high-tops? The low-tops are just as vibrant and stylish. Ke$ha wears both high and low tops. She keeps things simple by pairing her metallic and patent leather black/gold Nikes with skinny jeans and t-shirts.

So go ahead and donate those ordinary white sneakers thrown at the back of your closet—you’re going to need a new pair of bright kicks in order to start the year right!
