Introducing: Golden Shovel Poetry

Introducing: Golden Shovel Poetry

“Golden Shovel” is a fun form of poetry where you find any article headline, and each word of that article title becomes the last word of each line in your poem. The poem does not have to be about a particular theme, and it obviously does not have to rhyme.

For example, if I was writing a Golden Shovel poem for this article, I would have a 4-line poem, of which the last words of the 4 lines would be introducing, then golden, then shovel, then poetry.

Below is the first Golden Shovel poem that I ever wrote. The article headline I used was: “People are Revealing the Moment They’ve Found ‘The One’, And I’m Literally In Tears.” (by Buzzfeed)

The best relationships with people

I find are

The ones capable of being vulnerable and revealing.

Life is about the

Joy of living moment by moment,

And even if they’ve

Never found

Those moments, the

Moment like the one

We had and

The one I’m

Remembering, life is literally

Just a series of memories in

Which we can find smiles and tears.
