In the business world it can be very difficult to proceed through the ranks. This is especially true when it comes to women trying to get into higher ranked jobs. For example, women hold only around 23% of executive positions, 29% of senior management positions, and 37% of manager positions. This shows a major gap in gender diversity as females rise through the ranks.

Given that only 26.4% of professionals in the finance industry are women, there is an inequality that exists between women and men in the finance industry which needs to be addressed. Senior Lindsay Mulcahy has taken measures to try to branch the gap for women in the financial world. “Without female representation, the finance industry not only has short-fallings in equity, but stability, risk management, and investments,” senior Lindsay Mulcahy said.

Lindsay joined females for finance club and has been working on teaching women about stock pitches, stock market simulations, asset management, investment banking and more. Through virtual meetings Lindsay has been teaching these valuable skills to young women. “Females for Finance meetings we cover basic financial topics such as saving vs investing, financial markets, and the different career options available in finance,” Lindsay said.

Through educated young women with valuable skills, Lindsay wis working to pave the way for change in the business world. “The financial literacy of our members and provide opportunities to explore their interest in the financial world. I hope I can help enable girls within the community to explore the world of finance, and empower them to pursue careers in the financial field.”
