In this day and age, we are lucky to have so many technological distractions to keep from being bored, especially during this time of quarantine. Many people have turned to TikTok, Snapchat, Instagram, and other social media platforms to spend their time, however, the most popular would be Netflix, as it offers over 6,000 movies and close to 2000 tv shows to watch. Recently, Netflix released a documentary series called “Tiger King,” and it has quickly dominated all platforms as the new go-to show. It seems to be the only thing getting American’s through isolation due to its diverse plot. Our principal, Mr. Egan, has friends who recommended he watch this “weird” show. “The characters are very odd. Each one seems crazier than the next so that is interesting,” Mr. Egan said. “It is not for everyone and it requires a mature audience so I would want you to have your parent’s permission to watch.”

Tiger King 2020 American true-crime documentary miniseries about the life of big cat owner Joe Exotic. The series focuses on the feud between big cat conservationists, Carole Baskin, owner of Big Cat Rescue, and Exotic, whom Baskin accused of abusing and exploiting wild animals. The documentary also shows the lives of other big cat owners such as Mahamayavi Bhagavan Antle, more well known as “Doc” Antle, and former drug dealer Mario Tabraue. As you continue watching the episodes (consisting of 8 in total), viewers come to be investigated in the theory over whether Carole Baskin killed her husband, a millionaire who mysteriously went missing 20 years ago leaving Carole all the money despite suspicion regarding his will and feelings towards Carole. What is interesting is that despite both of these main characters, Joe and Carole, being people who both have definitely made mistakes over the course of the documentary, most people come off from watching the show loving Joe and hating Carole. ” left the show not trusting Carole” said Mr. Egan. “Not that I trust Joe, but I don’t trust Carole.”

It was released on Netflix on March 20, 2020, and within that first week it racked up more streaming minutes than any other show. Additionally, there have been recent rumors of an upcoming full movie of Tiger King, with Nicholas Cage to potentially play the role of Joe Exotic. Between Joe Exotic running for president and him landing up in jail, it is certainly a show that you will want to watch. “Honestly it keeps your attention – it is so strange and weird but totally keeps your attention,” said Mr. Egan after giving it a five-star rating. While it may not be everyone’s cup of tea, particularly members of the younger audience, Joe Exotic’s story is magnetic, and it truly brings to light the true manner of the so-called “Tiger King.”
