Tyler Kendall and Isabel Lawrence

FEATURES

Features update! While features can range from being newsworthy to miscellaneous, this cycle seems to cover it all. Junior Elliott Cottington is currently working on an article about the lives of teachers who attended NCHS as students. Did you know that Ms. Macomber was captain of varsity soccer? Or that Ms. Smith, the english teacher, used to write for the Courant, too!? Legacy of the Courant lives on! Also this cycle, Tyler Kendall and Arts editor Bryn Pennetti ventured to Pound Ridge’s fire department to film a video story about student volunteer firefighters. Make sure to watch the upcoming video to hear what it takes to commit to being a volunteer and to get a first hand look at what it’s like to ride in a fire engine (this is no ride on old faithful, like when you were eight at the Fall Fair.)

NEWS

Breaking news! (jokes, no news really “breaks” in New Canaan…) BUT, here’s what you need to know to keep informed about all the going-ons at our school. We mean honestly, God forbid you’re the kid who didn’t hear about the seniors strutting their stuff in the annual senior fashion show, which fellow news editor, junior Emily Brand told you about here. And please, don’t be the one who didn’t know that CAPTs are ending in the very near future – sophomore Carly Risom can tell you all about that. Speaking of the future, sophomore Sarah Maddox wrote about course registration for next year, and junior Jack Evans told us all about new science courses available for the taking (for all you CSI fans, forensics is now a class choice. Get pumped).
“Page 6”
So believe it or not, the jliz crew does have lives outside of jliz. Well. Barely… Anyway, prom is in the air and the period 6 crew has seen it all.

Check out what prom couple was a 100% jliz original:

Juan Pablo Rivera and Emilie Kushner!

On Mar. 1, 2013, junior Juan Pablo Rivera, blogs editor for the Courant, was making an announcement to the class regarding blogs proposals. While addressing the class in the second installment of his speech, Juan abruptly went to the cabinet, where he whipped out a bouquet of roses and boldly declared, “Emilie Kushner, will you go to prom with me?” The class erupted in cheers and Emilie, our senior editor, jumped out of her chair, shocked. Emilie replied with a “yes,” and accepted the flowers from Juan.

P.S. – All the junior section eds are ready for the big day 😉 SYAP! (It stands for See You At Prom… we’re gonna make that a thing… Yeah it’s happening. Get on board.)
