Jack Wills, a clothing store that caters to men and women, has opened in downtown New Canaan and the hype has already begun.

Deemed “Fabulously British” for its edgy European clothing, Jack Wills currently has 13 stores stateside and is still expanding further. With its recent opening on 136 Elm Street, conveniently located next to Starbucks, the store launched its arrival in style with an unforgettable welcome party. As guests got a first look at the clothing, the phenomenon began, and the word started to spread; Jack Wills has taken over NC.

Senior Sev Saiz, who previously worked at the Greenwich Jack Wills, started his New Canaan transfer with excitement. Sev is one of the few initial employees. “Traditional British clothing is very distinct and offers a certain look that’s similar, but at the same time uncommon to many Americans” Sev said. “Jack Wills is based on the idea that they’re offering a youthful spin on ‘old’ British styling, which creates that unique aspect that not many other brands have.”

Senior Eileen Dinne, who began working after her volunteer work at the Holiday Stroll event, shares a similar enthusiasm. “The introduction of Jack Wills is just what New Canaan needed. Although J Crew and Caren Forbes are also great clothing stores, Jack Wills is unique in that fact that I feel it has something for everyone which is exactly what a New Canaan shopper needs,” Eileen said.

With the recent closing of Rugby Ralph Lauren, many were concerned that Jack Wills New Canaan wouldn’t maintain stability. However, those who predicted failure didn’t realize the excitement of the New Canaan shopper, and clearly underestimated the town’s interest in clothing. “We’re doing really well and while it’s tacky to discuss financials, there’s certainly no doubt the stores going to be around for quite some time,” Sev said.

In the midst of the holiday season, it would only make sense to stop by a store that has something for everyone. In addition to the abundance of boys’ and girls’ clothing, Jack Wills offers an assortment of accessories and home furnishing. “Jack Wills has a home ware section including things like pillows, blankets and duvet covers, as well as water bottles, headphones and phone cases and makes a number of accesories like nail varnish, body wash/shampoo, and candles,” Eileen said. “There’s also lotion, perfume, headphones, make-up bags, wallets and SO many other things!”

So, this Christmas, skip the trip to the Stamford Mall and head straight to Elm Street. In pursuit to make this the best time of the year, don’t miss out on your chance to become “Fabulously British.”
