On Oct. 3-5, the New Canaan Domestic Violence Partnership (NCDVP) visited the cafeteria during lunch in recognition of Domestic Violence Awareness Month. NCDVP said that they hoped that their presence and resources will promote awareness among students.

On Wednesday, September 22, seniors attended a mandatory assembly addressing the stress and pressures linked to the college application process. The speaker, Michael Thompson, is a psychologist who specializes in families and children, and is the co-author of a book called The Pressured Child: Helping Your Children Achieve Success in School and Life.

Today, September 28, NCHS honors Banned Websites Awareness Day by blocking the three primary social-networking sites: Twitter, Facebook and YouTube. From 7:30 to 2:05, students will not be able to access the sites on any computer throughout the school.

Tomorrow, the September 11, Ten Years After assembly, organized by History Department Head Richard Webb, will be held in the auditorium. The assembly will feature a panel discussion led by six speakers including VOICES of September 11th co-founder Mary Fetchet, author of “Messages: Signs, Visits and Premonitions from Loved Ones Lost on 9/11″ Bonnie McEneaney, among others. There will also be performances by the NCHS Madrigals and the band.
