The Magic of the Winter Classic

Over the years, hockey has experimented with its formula to keep up with the times. For instance, there is the new trend in alternate jerseys. Some are good, some bad, and some should be burned. The NHL has also toyed around with overtime. Shootouts were first implemented in the ’05-’06 season, and though there have been some gems, I have to say that it is a failed experiment. But out of all the poking and prodding of the NHL blueprint, something truly amazing emerged.

‘Walking Dead’ breaks the mold of zombie idiocy

Imagine if you woke up in a hospital bed after being in a coma for several weeks. There are no doctors, no nurses, no other patients. Only dead bodies. As you exit, you find no other people, only the decaying remains of society. Your family is gone, your friends are dead or worse, and the world you knew has collapsed in the biggest way possible. No more internet, no more electricity, hot water, or grocery stores.

The Arts section in the December Courant Issue

I’m excited about this issue of the Courant. More excited than usual, even. And that is because I am an avid Harry Potter fan. If you have gone on nchscourant.com lately, and I’m assuming that you have since that is where you are reading this, than you will have seen that we have circa three different articles up about the beginning of the end of HP. We’ve got Serra’s, the blogs editor, blog post on how to live Harry.

Through eight weeks of the high school football season, I am amazed at the success and dominance of the Rams’ offense, particularly the passing game. In each of the Rams’ seven wins, they have scored more than 34 points, scoring 40 or more points in five of those seven games. Even in their only loss of the season, they scored 27 points, no slouch of a performance.

During the November/December cycle, the Courant will be focusing more on the website because during the last publication cycle the website did not update often. In order to increase the publication for online, stories will be posted according to relevance (timeliness), meaning if an article is covering a specific event it will be published within a week or so about it.
