Boys Squash looks to build on successful season

Boy’s squash stars Killian and Grayson Bubrosky are eager to start the season, and already have the highest of expectations. “We want to go undefeated and either win division 3 nationals or place within the top five in division 2,” senior Grayson Bubrosky said.

Last year, the team was the Fairwest League Division 1 champions. They went undefeated against the other teams in their division such as Greenwich High School, Rye High School, Darien High School, Bronxville High School, and Fairfield High School. They also traveled to Philadelphia last year and placed third in nationals in Division 3, losing to Andover 4-3 in the semifinals. “Last year we made a lot of improvements, and I want to build on that this year,” Grayson said.

The team is looking to build off last year’s successful season and would like to be able to continue the path they have been on over the last couple years. “I expect everyone on the team to work hard in practice,” returning Varsity A sophomore Teddy Holappa said. “If we can accomplish this, it will definitely translate into our season.”

Grayson wants to see both individual and team success this year. “I’d like to help my teammates, especially the younger players, grow as players and by the end of the season,” he said. “I also want to work my way up to top 20 in the country.”

The team’s first game is against St. Lukes on Monday the 8th at 5:30. “We’re all hoping to improve on last season,” Teddy said. “We aren’t satisfied with third in Nationals. We want to win it all this year, especially for the seniors.”
