StuCo Weekly Update 3/23

Molly James
Sophomore Social President

Currently, as mentioned last week, the Student Coalition is working on a school wide music video! The main goal is to incorporate as many clubs/sports teams/students as possible, to promote unity between all grades. The Softball team, Gymnastics team, Animation club, (and this Thursday the Squash team), have been filmed already. The film and editing crew, Nick Howard, Chris Freeman, and Nicola Scandiffio, are doing a fantastic job helping us out, and the finished product is going to be amazing.

The day Pitt ruined my life

Ben Stryker
Cartoonist

To quote Freddy Mercury, “I’m going slightly mad”. It’s a severe case of March Madness, but not the kind I was hoping for. By reading this blog, I assume you know how the Butler-Pitt game ended. If you don’t know, watch this (at your own peril).

3/15: Let the Madness begin!

Ben Stryker
Cartoonist

Welcome to another edition of Balls! For the rest of March, and a little bit into April, we’ll be focusing Balls on the NCAA Men’s Basketball Tournament. Gogo Jones and I will be bringing you highlights from each day, as well as students’ and teachers’ perspectives on this exciting time of the year.

Student Coalition Updates

Kelliane Hickey

This week in Student Coalition, the main portion of the meeting was spent on the upcoming lip-dub music video project. Many of you may have seen the endless Youtube videos of schools that did similar productions, such as the popular I Got a Feelin’ video. The idea of the music video is to gather as many student groups possible and roam around the school as everyone lip-syncs to the songs voted on: “Dynamite” by Taio Cruz and “Firework” by Katy Perry. Traditionally the video is filmed in one shot, but there was such a big turnout of support, we needed to spread the individual shots across several days.

The Arts section in the December Courant Issue

Francesca DeRosa
Arts & Entertainment Editor

I’m excited about this issue of the Courant. More excited than usual, even. And that is because I am an avid Harry Potter fan. If you have gone on nchscourant.com lately, and I’m assuming that you have since that is where you are reading this, than you will have seen that we have circa three different articles up about the beginning of the end of HP. We’ve got Serra’s, the blogs editor, blog post on how to live Harry.
