Student Stewart Taylor’s audition for American Idol’s “golden ticket”

If you thought you saw a familiar face flash across the television screen while watching the premiere of American Idol Season 9 this week, you were not mistaken. Junior Stewart Taylor sang his heart out in front of the judges at the show’s Boston auditions.

“The entire day was so surreal,” said Stewart of the experience. “I had been watching American Idol since I was seven or eight, and here I was, a 17-year-old, finally auditioning for it. I got to make my dream a reality…”

Athlete of the Week, Turner Baty

In light of his outstanding performance at the State Championship against East Lyme on December 5th, it seems appropriate that senior quarterback Turner Baty is this week’s Athlete of the Week. Turner completed 19 of 32 pass attempts for 213 yards and 4 passing touchdowns. He also ran for 58 yards on 11 carries leading the Rams to a 28-0 victory bringing them their fourth straight state title…

The case of the headless nutcracker

This past Saturday, the cast of the New England Dance Academy’s The Nutcracker faced a headless nutcracker, broken glass, and other uncooperative props. Despite this, they finished the night safely with no falls or injuries.

Members of the audience admitting to noticing there were some difficulties. “Occasionally, it seemed a little off tempo,” said sophomore Maddy Prior. “Plus the nutcracker’s head flying off was unexpected. There was nothing so bad that it stood out though…”
