If you’ve ever run for any kind of leadership position, whether it’s to be class president for Student Coalition or to be co-captain of your varsity volleyball team, you know how hard it is. In most cases, all the candidates turn out to be overqualified for the job, making the decision even harder. This is a sentiment that will be echoed throughout the town this coming summer when the election for the Republican candidate for First Selectman is chosen.

NCHS’ library wins national library music video award

On May 25, the American Library Association announced NCHS as the winner of their “Why I Need My High School Library” contest, composed of students who created original music videos for a prize of $3000 to improve their library. The contest was divided into two categories, one for 13- to 15-year-olds and another for 16- to 18-year-olds, with New Canaan winning the honor for the latter.

Physics Bowl provides more challenges for physics students

On Tuesday, Apr. 5, all Honors and AP Physics students participated in the annual Physics Bowl held at the high school. This comes on the heels of the Junior Engineering Technical Society (JETS) team’s impressive win at the March 15 JETS state championships at New Haven University. Varsity “A” and Junior Varsity brought home gold medals in their divisions, and Varsity “B” earned bronze.
