Sign ups for the prom fashion show a success

On Jan. 18-20, the Post Prom Committee has been holding sign ups for models, emcees and stagehands in the lounge from 10 a.m.-1 p.m. in preparation for the annual Prom Fashion Show. The event entitled, “Fashion’s Night Out,” will take place in the auditorium on Saturday, Mar. 24 at 7 p.m. to raise money for the senior post prom and will feature local stores like A Step Ahead and Togs.

Improving education by recycling an old cell phone

Because electronics continue to be replaced for the latest version, the Hope 4 Ghana Club has arranged a fundraiser from Jan. 4-14 to provide another alternative to simply throwing away old electronics.

The club is collecting used cell phones, lap tops, MP3 players, iPods, handheld games, GPS, video cameras and still cameras that can be dropped off in the boxes in NCHS main lobby or Saint Luke’s School. The money raised will support the Ghana Children’s Fund, an organization started by senior Julia Tuttle’s family, that benefits the Good Shepherd Orphanage in Ghana

Eighth annual Turkey Trot held to support Open Door Shelter

In light of the holiday, over 150 New Canaan residents laced up their running shoes for the eighth annual Turkey Trot held at Irwin Park on Nov. 20 to benefit the Open Door Shelter in Norwalk, CT. Because of those who participated in the 3K run around the park and their donations, an estimated $10,000 in donations were raised to provide meals to the homeless in the local area this Thanksgiving.
