AMC math test today

Today, the American Mathematics Competition (AMC) test will be administered during D and A period in the Wagner room.

The school is offering the AMC level 10 test for grades 10 and below and the AMC level 12 test for grades 12 and below.

According to Math Department Chair Jennifer Lee, many students planned to take the test. “Traditionally, most M4 students sit [for the exam]…”

Jersey Shore at the Outback: a sold out hit

Last night, the girls’ ice hockey team organized a Jersey Shore themed dance at the Outback as a fundraiser for their program. “[The girls’ hockey team] gets very little funding from the school,” senior Kelsey Durkin said. “We had a competition between the grades on the team to see who could raise the most money, and the seniors decided to have this dance.”

The team sold over 160 tickets for the dance, which was open to students of all grades. “It cost about $750 to rent the Outback, so we made a profit of more than $1000,” Kelsey said.

The team wanted to use a theme for the dance that would be appealing and entertaining to most students…

2nd Annual Girls Hockey Free Skate this Saturday

Tomorrow, the Varsity Girl’s Hockey Team will be hosting a “Family Free Skate,” from 6:30-8, at Terry Connors Ice Rink in Stamford.

The team is selling tickets for $10 throughout the week, however, tickets will also be sold at the door for $10.

The Free Skate is the hockey team’s main fundraiser for the year. Junior tri-captain Jana Persky explained the purpose of the fundraiser. “Since hockey is an expensive sport, with ice time costing up to $450 an hour, players are responsible for more than $20,000…” Jana said.

Guest speaker talks about “Freedom Riders”

On Monday, John Seigenthaler was a guest speaker at an assembly during E period. The topic of discussion was Freedom Riders and Seigenthaler’s participation in the Civil Rights movement. Seigenthaler was hospitalized when he tried to help Freedom Rider Susan Wilbur, who was being chased by an angry mob. He was the editor of The Tennessean, and served as an administrative assistant to Robert F. Kennedy where we was the sole witness to a meeting between Kennedy and Martin Luther King Jr…

Annual AP/Honors Night on Thursday

AP/Honors Night is this Thursday from 7 to 8:15 pm in the auditorium. The purpose of the event is to familiarize students and parents with the course requirements and offerings for AP and honors classes.
