Boys’ hockey skates for history

39 years removed from their last Division 1 State title, the boys’ hockey team sits at the top of the state rankings with a sparkling record of 18-0. Having blown out just about every team on their schedule, the Rams look destined for another deep run into the state playoffs, a run they hope to end at Ingall’s Rink with a championship trophy in their hands.

Rams Hockey pulls away from Ridgefield, 6-1

On Monday night at Darien Ice Rink, the boys hockey team continued their remarkable season, defeating the Ridgefield Tigers 6-1. As they enter the midway point of the season, the Rams are the state’s only undefeated team, sitting at the top of the standings at 10-0.

Early on, in last night’s rematch of last year’s FCIAC championship, Ridgefield looked like the state’s number one ranked team. Thanks to sophomore goalie Tim Nowacki, the scoreboard didn’t show it.

Through eight weeks of the high school football season, I am amazed at the success and dominance of the Rams’ offense, particularly the passing game. In each of the Rams’ seven wins, they have scored more than 34 points, scoring 40 or more points in five of those seven games. Even in their only loss of the season, they scored 27 points, no slouch of a performance.

Today marks the end of Spirit Week and the end of a week of outrageous outfits, great laughs, and good memories. With this afternoon’s pep rally and tonight’s bonfire, we are preparing ourselves for the culmination of the entire concept of Homecoming, the homecoming football game, also known as, the biggest game of the year.
