With 26 points against Darien and 40 against Norwalk to start off the season, senior Conor House is this week’s Athlete of the Week. The 26 points Conor scored   against Darien helped the Rams achieve a 78-55 win. Two nights later at Norwalk he scored 40 points, but the Rams were defeated 91-81.

Conor is best known for his dunking abilities. The 6’3″ small forward dunked in the preseason, but also once in the Rams’ rout of Darien, firing up the dedicated fans that made the trip to Darien to support the team. “Dunking is by far the best feeling you can have while playing basketball,” Conor said. “It pumps up your teammates and the crowd goes crazy. Every player dreams of dunking in a game, so when I was given the opportunity, I had to go for it.”

Conor said he owes a lot of his success to coach head coach Jeff Bussey. “I love playing for Bussey. We have a lot of fun at practice together,” he said. “He brings a good balance of fooling around and fundamentals. He brings us discipline that most other teams in the league don’t have, and that gives us a huge advantage.”

During two games this year, the Rams are 1-1 with Conor is averaging 33 points, 8 rebounds, and 3 steals per game. He indicated that a close-knit team is a contributor to the success he’s experienced this season. “The key to our success this year is our team chemistry,” he said. “Most of us have been playing together since 4th grade so we know all of our strengths. No one is selfish with the ball and we all try to set each other up to make good plays.”

The Rams’ home opener was December 22st against Warren Harding High School, where the Rams lost 63-42.
