This blog is oriented around the idea that it is important to have motivation and a purpose for every day, especially during quarantine. Every other day, there will be a focus and message for the day. The goal is to live each day with this concept in the back of your head so that you can feel productive and uplifted throughout the rest of quarantine.
Day 2: Environment
Whether you’re reading this on Earth Day or a few days later, I think it is important that we offer a little bit of environmental support during this quarantine. Instead of sitting and dwelling on the fact that you are stuck at home, remember that you can still go on a few walks to embrace the thriving environment around us. Here are a few ways that you can serve the Earth while you are staying home:
1. Plastic water bottles become the new pots for plants
Instead of recycling your plastic water bottles or containers, cut them in half so that they become a new make shift pot. Put some dirt or soil in them, along with some seeds that you can easily order online. In just a few days you can have your own plants growing out of some reusable bottles! This is a great way to liven up your home or bring some natural O2 into your living space.
2. Reduce the use of water
I know it can be really easy to take advantage of time when there is nowhere you have to be, but be mindful of your usage of water. Try to take somewhat timely showers so that you aren’t wasting water for no reason. This is a great way to quickly and easily support the environment around you.
3. Pick up some garbage
Yes, pick up some trash. During quarantine, a great way to pass some time is going on a family walk. Unfortunately, this means that a lot of trash is getting left behind on the streets and sidewalks. Now, I know it seems scary to pick up someone else’s trash during this time, but if you are protected with gloves and the new policy of wearing a mask in public, you should be perfectly fine.
These are just a few things to keep your mind busy while you have way too much time on your hands. So, help out the environment even when it’s not Earth Day!
