The school week is always a grind- full of due dates, tests, quizzes, homework, sports, and other commitments. That’s why I put together a song schedule for the week of March 7, including one unique song or remix that corresponds to each week day. Listen to these tunes for motivation as you make your way through the next seven days, and maybe even discover some new favorite tunes, courtesy of Soundcloud.

The cover of Banks’ 2014 debut album, titled “Goddess”, which “Drowning” is featured on among other songs such as the popular”Waiting Game.”

March 7- Monday- Monday: it’s known for being the most hated weekday of all. This is the day where you jump out of hanging with friends and general relaxing, and right back into your classes. It’s days like these where sometimes you just feel like you’re drowning. Channel that energy through your headphones with Stwo’s remix of singer Banks’ “Drowning”, and ease into the week with this calming melody.

March 8- Tuesday- So it’s Tuesday morning and you’re thinking about everything that you have to do for the next four days- all those papers to write, tests to study for, and assignments to complete. Well, as Mikky Ekko candidly puts it in his song “Smile”: “Smile, the worst is yet to come.” So pop some headphones in, or get ahold of that aux, and listen as Hippie Sabotage blends the beats of Mikky’s hit in such a perfect mix that it seems almost as unreal as your workload.

March 9- Wednesday- Everyone knows that Wednesday is known as “hump day”, aka the one day in the middle of the week that you have to power through in order to finally be on the tail-end of the week. On this day, you’re gonna need an upbeat song that can motivate you to get over that hump- and this remix by Galimatias is the perfect one for you.

Drake’s cover art for “Thank Me Later”, an album which was nominated for many awards including the 2011 Grammy Award for “Best Rap Album.”

March 10- Thursday- Throw it back this #ThrowbackThursday with a classic song from the young Drake era; I’m sure you all remember “Best I Ever Had” from his 2010 album “Thank Me Later.” And although that song is a killer on it’s own, check it out when remixed with a more recent Disclosure hit, “You and Me.”  Put this song on repeat this March 10th and enjoy the glory of early Drake.

March 11- Friday- It’s a Friday and you’re just SO CLOSE to the weekend you can almost taste it. All that stands between you and the sweet feeling of freedom is 7 hours of classes. It might seem rough now- but luckily you’ve got this remix of Coldplay and Beyonce’s “Hymn for the Weekend” to jam to. Listen to this song to keep your hopes up through the final stretch.

March 12- Saturday- Saturday, the one day of the entire week where you don’t have to worry about waking up OR going to bed at a decent time, that is in most cases. For these reasons, you could say this Saturday is the staple weekend day. So, you’re going to need a really hype song. On March 12, I suggest you tune into a somewhat unexpected remix, of Passion Pit’s “Take a Walk” and Jay Z’s “Bonnie & Clyde.” This tune will certainly get you in that high-energy Saturday mood.

Skizzy Mars’ album cover for his 2015 EP “The Red Balloon Project”, which features songs such as “Like This”, “The City”, and “Be Lazy.”

March 13- Sunday- Ahh, the day after Saturday, a day often referred to as “lazy Sunday.” This phrase is the motivation behind our choice song today- titled “Be Lazy” by Skizzy Mars. Listen to the smoothness of Skizzy’s voice as he urges you to- “watch Netflix” and “order in”- classic lazy day acts that I’m sure we can all relate to.
