We all know that Quarantine has put a bump in the road in regards to how we celebrate birthdays, holidays, and other events. However, on May 10th, families around New Canaan got creative to celebrate their mothers on Mother’s Day. Mothers have played monumental roles in helping to care for their children amidst pandemic, so let’s hear about how 5 New Canaan students honored their moms!

“My family and I went golfing on Mother’s Day and it was so nice and beautiful out! It was one of the few activities we could do during quarantine but many courses are open now and it’s a super fun bonding activity to do with your family while getting a little exercise and being outdoors!”

2. Eliana Bukai: Sweet breakfast

“My mom has never been a big fan of doing anything super special for Mother’s Day, but my sister and I felt that we should try and do at least something, especially since she’s been working so hard throughout quarantine in every aspect of life. As we couldn’t go out and buy anything, and we were unable to order any gifts (as it’s my mom, of course, that makes sure to disinfect any packages that come to the door), we tried to put together a simple but sweet breakfast to start the day off right.”

“In honor of Mother’s Day in our household, we purchased a bunch of my mom’s favorite items, a gift, and made her homemade cards. We also put together our own brunch for her, as we usually go out every year.”

“The night before, my sister and I decorated for a Mother’s Day brunch. My family and I spent Mother’s Day with chocolate chip pancakes, bacon, and a movie! We took a walk since it was so nice out!”

5. Paige Volpe: Grilling with the family

“For Mother’s Day, my family and I went over to my grandparents house. All my relatives were there and my grandpa and uncle grilled us all lunch. We social distanced of course, but it was still really nice to all be together.”
