As any Sweet Charity stagehand could probably attest, it’s all about the people making strides behind the scenes. Silent to the audience but always evident within the creations they influence, these invisible inspirations are the driving force behind any imaginative work. One such under-appreciated muse was Ralph McQuarrie, a conceptual painter who designed some of the most iconic figures in cinema.

Negative advertising’s impact is strong; the remedy’s in research

Jeremy W. Peters recently wrote an article for the New York Times headlined “92% of Ads in Florida Were Negative.” Exhibit A was an ad by the pro-Romney Super PAC Restore Our Future, although I’m not sure this is a corner of YouTube you want to visit. Jane Mayer also wrote about negative advertising in an article about Larry McCarthy, who helps direct Restore Our Future, in The New Yorker; the article was called “Mitt Romney’s Attack Dog.”

Students learn to balance school, sports, and scoliosis

When sophomore Liz Gordon was diagnosed with scoliosis, she learned she would have to alter her daily routines to accommodate her treatment course, and help put an end to her back pains.
Many others, like Liz, have to accommodate to life with scoliosis. According to Boston Brace, one in every 1,000 children between ages 3-5 develops scoliosis, and girls especially are affected, as the condition is more prevalent among females.

Say yes to recycling your prom dress this season

On Mar. 19-23, the Post Prom Committee will be collecting gently used, clean, formal dresses in front of the main office from 7:30 am-2:15 pm to be donated to the Christian Community Action in Norwalk. However, New Canaan students in need of a prom dress will have first priority to the selection of dresses.

Recording and editing from the comfort of their homes, Seniors Jamie Fairchild, along with Peter Murphy and Norwalk Community College Freshman Stefan Broski, sit at a Mac as they touch up sound tracks and tweak solo parts. In a process that takes weeks, the three students rely on their ears to lead them in the right direction.
