A young man is soaked with sweat as he prepares for his encore performance with his college band in the city of rock. It’s a Saturday night and the previous nights without sleep are noticeable by his wild, untamed hair and heavy bags under his eyes. As he gets on stage, the young man begins to nod his head as he strums the opening chords of The Doors’ “Peace Frog.”

NCAA March Madness Part II

By now, you are probably in the same position as I am. In other words, your bracket probably has been busted.

I had a very good opening session on Thursday. I only missed one game. But then, I started missing left and right. South Dakota State lost to Baylor. VCU beat Wichita State. UNLV lost to Colorado. And so on and so forth.

I don’t want my bracketing mishaps to take away from a very good first weekend of games. Friday was particularly crazy, with two 15 or 2 seed upsets.

U.S. history class explores the Roaring Twenties

On Feb. 29, over the course of three periods, students from Michael Staffaroni’s U.S. history class engaged themselves in various interactive stations portraying topics of the 1920s. The goal of this assignment was for each pair of students to deliver a presentation to their classmates in a creative manner as an alternative to sitting in a classroom.
