Rams Hockey pulls away from Ridgefield, 6-1

On Monday night at Darien Ice Rink, the boys hockey team continued their remarkable season, defeating the Ridgefield Tigers 6-1. As they enter the midway point of the season, the Rams are the state’s only undefeated team, sitting at the top of the standings at 10-0.

Early on, in last night’s rematch of last year’s FCIAC championship, Ridgefield looked like the state’s number one ranked team. Thanks to sophomore goalie Tim Nowacki, the scoreboard didn’t show it.

Paddle Club: one of the fastest growing trends

After school every Tuesday and Thursday you may spot pockets of students journeying across the brisk Waveny fields. These would be the members of Paddle Club on their weekly trek to practice, ready to counter the crisp winter weather with every shot across the net.

Since it’s initiation in 2009, Paddle Club has become the perfect place for beginners and experts alike to work on their paddle game in a compelling and easygoing environment.

The pen pals of Bus 13

While most morning bus rides consist of students half-asleep finishing breakfast, listening to iPods, or rushing to complete last night’s math assignment, those sitting in the back of Bus 13 are waiting to make the turn at Darien’s Barringer Road. The bus riders are preparing to swap their latest note with Darien High School (DHS) sophomores Spencer Dean and Andrew Fletcher.

Second snow day this week causes more exam changes

The second snow day this week has caused further changes in the exam schedule. According to the special schedule on the NCHS homepage, “the exams will continue (in the same order) the next day the 2nd Semester will begin next Wednesday, Jan. 26, with a Day C Homeroom Schedule.” Also, according to Principal Tony Pavia’s e-mail on Jan. 18, if there is a delay on an exam day the first exam will be administered at 9:30 to 11:00 a.m. and the second exam at 11:30 to 1:00 p.m.
