Student artwork displayed in Senior Art Exhibit

As students stroll through the lobby they will find themselves immersed in a free-of-charge art gallery. However in place of Van Gogh, Picasso or Monet, the new generation of art is expressed through the works of the class of 2011. The Senior Art Exhibit, officially presented on the night of May 23rd, displays the works of, you guessed it, the seniors.

What are we willing to do for grades?

Given the competitive nature of the high school, it is easy to understand how some students might be willing to do whatever it takes to get top-notch grades. There is constant pressure from peers, teachers, parents and other students to maintain a respectable average and some students are willing to take risky measures to receive those scores.

NCHS Takes Home Access Awareness Awards

On May 11, seven seniors earned first place in the Seventh Annual Access Awareness Awards for Grades K-12. In addition, NCHS students recieved second place in the News and Public Service Announcement (PSA) categories.

Seniors Chris Freeman, Nick Howard, Nicola Scandifio, Portia Schultz, Ryyan Taylor, Stewart Taylor and Nick Zanca, assisted by music tech teacher Anna Mase, were awarded first place in the School/Community Story category and the John M. Recipient Award for their video, “Scholarship Sunday”.

Stewart Taylor takes on “Kickstarter”

As if last year’s audition for American Idol wasn’t surreal enough, senior Stewart Taylor has encountered yet another opportunity of a lifetime that could potentially launch his music career. In recent months, Stewart has come into contact with multi-platinum songwriter and producer Heather Holley. Ms. Holley is widely recognized for her role in launching Christina Aguilera’s career, having aided in the production of the songs leading to her RCA signing. Many of Ms. Holley’s recordings have been licensed to hit TV series such as Grey’s Anatomy, One Tree Hill, and 90210.
