Coming into the game 6-1 holding the fourth spot in the FCIAC, the Rams look to defeat a strong 5-2 fifth seed Greenwich Cardinals team. Winning this game is crucial to increasing the Rams chances of advancing to the FCIAC finals.

New Canaan has been fine-tuning their offense and working hard all week in preparation for this highly anticipated game. “We have been preparing for this game all season. We practice and play every game with the same mindset, to win. Our practices have been very focused all week long.” senior captain Kevin Macari said. “Our team is looking very forward to executing both on offense and on defense. We have been very excited all week to follow our game plan and play as hard as we can.”

Agreeing with Kevin’s point, senior captain Conor Hanratty believes if our team sticks to the  plan we will win the game. “This game is very important for FCIAC and CIAC standings. It is not only important to win this game for the FCIAC standings, but it is very important to win this one for our team. Our goal is to play as best as possible as a team. If we play as a team and execute, we will win,” he said.

On the other side of the ball, after suffering a heart breaking 35-34 loss last year, the Cardinals are expecting a similar game hoping that the tides will turn in their favor. “We’ve probably had our best week of practice all year. Everybody has been working really hard because the loss from last year still stings,” Greenwich senior defensive tackle Jimmy Barrett said. “We are expecting the game to be as good and as exciting as last years game.”

Bussey’s Bomb Squad will be in full-force on Friday night expecting the biggest turnout of the season. The dress code is a blackout. “Everyone is expected to show up tomorrow night to one of the most anticipated games of the year. I am expecting everyone to be the loudest they have been and give are team the full support they deserve,” senior Bomb Squad leader Graham Bradley said.

MSG varsity will be covering the game live adding to the pre-existent anticipation surrounding the game. This past week crew members have been in and out of New Canaan and Greenwich getting an inside look on both schools leading up to the game.

With MSG Varsity broadcasting the game live, senior captain Joe Costigan is excited for the environment of the game. “I think it will be a great game. Two great teams playing against each other at 7 o’clock on a Friday night on live television,” he said.
