The Courant Online began as the Rampage, a website found on the drop menu of the New Canaan High School library home page. While the Rampage provided a forum for posting articles, it wasn’t ideal for online journalism. The Rampage was limited to a hosting software called School Center that limited what journalism students could do technology-wise. The biggest issue was that the host didn’t allow videos, images, and comment boxes–things that would surely make the website an exciting destination for news. Students with similar aspirations to achieve a more interactive online newspaper got together to create a whole new website, the Courant Online, using software like Dreamweaver, Photoshop, and WordPress.
Now, the website offers “online-only” features such as accounts, comments, polls, and more. The web design team is excited to welcome the NCHS body to the new site – make an account and start rating and commenting on articles today!
