Welcome to the Courant 2010-2011!

Hello NCHS!
Yup its that time of the year again the dreaded August 31st…first day of school! However, we have a few things to be excited about. First off, congratulations Class of 2011, we are finally SENIORS, enjoy it! Secondly, welcome class of 2014, we hope your four years of high school are as memorable as ours have been.

Another thing to get excited about this upcoming year is a vamped up, new and improved Courant, which includes our monthly print edition and our updated daily website. Our Courant staff has been hard at work this summer documenting summer trips, expressing their opinions, and getting the scoop behind the new schedule (R.I.P DABCHEF?).

This year we are striving to get the word out and to document the 2010-2011 school year as it blows by. Coming soon, you can follow us on twitter and get updated by our facebook group about the latest stories, photos from sports games, and blogs ranging from style to sports.

So, tweet us, read us, love us, we are the Courant 2011.

While getting back to the grind of school after those lazy, hazy days of August can be far from pleasing, there’s one thing that I couldn’t be more excited for… the Courant 2010-2011! I’m so proud of our staff this year–they’ve worked so hard over the summer to bring you fresh stories for the first days of school. Not only are they thorough, talented and inquisitive reporters, but they’re also just fun people to be around. Their dedication will make the Courant something truly special this year.

Just because you didn’t sign up for journalism this year (even though you should have!), doesn’t mean you can’t have your voice heard. That’s right, casual Courant reader, we want YOU! This year, we want to make the Courant an open forum for public thought and discussion. Feel passionately about something? Tell us! Blogs, letters to the editor, opinion editorials and story ideas are more than welcome, and you might even see your own words in print or online. (Trust me, there’s no better feeling.)

Get ready, NCHS, the Courant is back and better than ever!

2010-2011 will be monumental for the Courant – we are fully integrated with multimedia! Look, it only took three years – that’s amazing. Now, looking to the future, the staff will be working on various ways to enhance their articles with multimedia such as graphics, slideshows and video.

There are so many ways to tell a story and I am overjoyed (and anxious) to see how our reporters decide how to tell them. There are so many options. Whether they choose an online slide show or an eye-catching layout in print; it will properly embellish the story for the public. With this limitless potential I can’t wait to see what our student body has to say and how we share their voice.

So, do you – the student body – have something to say? Share it with us and stay current with the Courant.
