New Canaan High School has a new World History teacher, and the students and staff are already raving about him. Trevor Knight has stepped up to replace Jessica Browner and is already sinking his teeth into the role. “Combining the ways that Mrs. Browner taught, along with the ways that I best teach, I have found that this is the best way to inform and inspire my students,” Trevor Knight said.
Trevor Knight is currently teaching World History 1 and 2, two classes that are critical in shaping students’ understanding of the world around them. He brings a fresh perspective to these classes and has been successful in getting students interested in the subject. Trevor Knight is a seasoned educator with several years of experience, “I hold a degree in History and education and have a strong passion for teaching world history especially.” Mr. Knight said. Along with his passion for teaching World History classes, he enjoys working with students at the Freshman and Sophomore grade levels. “I particularly like working with lower grade students in order to help them form a foundation for learning for years to come. That is why I think I am so passionate about teaching.
Knight’s classes are a mix of lectures and hands-on activities, which allow students to learn through experience. He encourages students to ask questions, engage in debates, and think critically about the world’s past and present. “We often do assignments on our computers that lead into discussions about the topics we have learned about. I find that this really helps me to learn the best.” Will Teles Freshman said.
Every student I have talked to has had nothing but positive experiences with him as a teacher. “I love him and his teaching style – he is nice and helpful in the classroom,” sophomore Sophie Root said. They appreciate his ability to make the subject matter relevant to their lives and his willingness to take the time to explain difficult concepts. “I love how he allows us to work in group activities and use resources like technology around us.” sophomore Nichole Nizzardo said.
The staff at New Canaan High School has also welcomed Mr. Knight with open arms. “We are quite fortunate to have Mr. Knight with us teaching World History I and World History II,” History Department Chair Michael Forcucci said. They appreciate his dedication to the students and his willingness to work with them to create a supportive learning environment. “He is doing a great job getting to know his students, and we are happy to have him as a colleague.”
Trevor Knight’s arrival at New Canaan High School has been a breath of fresh air. He has quickly become a beloved teacher and a valuable addition to the faculty. His enthusiasm for the subject and his ability to engage students have made him an important part of the school community. “I am excited to teach through the second semester and beyond.” Knight said. With his passion for teaching and his ability to make history come alive in the classroom, Trevor Knight is poised to make a lasting impact on the students at New Canaan High School.
